Health officials say contaminated drugs, including cocaine, may be circulating in the area

A further warning has been issued over suspected contaminated drugs, including cocaine, believed to be circulating in North East Lincolnshire.

North East Lincolnshire Council said the warning was being issued ahead of the weekend after a "recent increase in overdoses" reported locally.

Geoff Barnes, the council's deputy director of public health, said users "can't be sure" what is in recreational drugs.

Humberside Police said one person had died and seven people had been taken hospital in cases believed to be linked to contaminated drugs in Grimsby and Cleethorpes.

"Some contaminated drugs can be much, much stronger and very dangerous," Barnes said.

Police said eight people had been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

The council urged anyone who believed someone had overdosed to call 999 immediately.
