Further arrests over contaminated drug overdoses
BBCThree more people have been arrested by police investigating suspected overdoses on a contaminated batch of drugs.
Four people were taken to hospital last week, and another on Wednesday, after taking what police said were thought to be contaminated drugs in Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
A man also died last week in Hope Street, Grimsby, and a coroner is looking into whether his death is linked to the supply of contaminated drugs, Humberside Police said.
The force said two women, aged 42 and 44, and a 37-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and remained in custody while the inquiry continued.
A total of eight people have been held in custody on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
Five males, arrested following two warrants on Hainton Avenue and Daubney Street in Grimsby on Friday, have since been released under investigation, the force said.
On Wednesday, officers received a report of a woman becoming unwell at a property on Daubney Street in Cleethorpes. She is being treated in hospital.
Det Insp Tom Kelly said: "Extensive enquires remain ongoing to establish whether yesterday's report is connected to those we received last week where four people became unwell between Thursday 30 April and Friday 1 May 2026, and after a man had died at an address on Hope Street in Grimsby.
"Whilst we remain in the early stages of our investigation, we are considering the possibility that the reports could be linked to a contaminated batch of drugs."
Kelly said the force was working alongside the local authority, drugs and alcohol treatment services and hospital trusts to provide support and advice to those who had been affected.
He appealed for anyone with information to contact the force.
