A teenager who was one of six people injured in a road crash at the weekend has died in hospital.

Alfie Sivills, 17, was driving a Ford Fiesta on Saltburn Lane towards the A174, north of Skelton-in-Cleveland at 16:45 BST on Saturday when it collided with a Toyota Corolla going in the opposite direction.

Sivills, from East Cleveland, was known to have suffered life-threatening injuries and Cleveland Police confirmed he died in hospital on Monday.

Among the three passengers in the same car, a 17-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries, a boy aged 15 remains in hospital and an 18-year-old man had a broken arm. A man aged 54 and and 18-year-old woman in the Toyota suffered minor injuries.

Officers have appealed for anyone with information to contact the force.
