Warning to secure tent boxes after theft spate

Three tent boxes have been stolen from car roofs in the East Cleveland area in recent days

Police are asking people to secure tent boxes properly to vehicles and fit tracking devices after a spate of thefts.

Thieves stole three tents from car roofs in the New Marske and Saltburn areas of East Cleveland between Saturday and Tuesday, Cleveland Police said.

A spokeswoman said men wearing face covers put the stolen tent boxes on top of a white Citroen C1.

Officers urged anyone with information or CCTV footage to get in touch.
