Irish police seize more than 160 e-scooters

An Garda Síochána (Irish police) have seized 166 e-bikes and e-scooters, seven e-dirt bikes, four scrambler motorcycles and three quad vehicles after 96 searches.

Gardaí had been conducting a "high-impact day of action" on Tuesday under Operation Meacán in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

Four out of five individuals who were arrested have been charged.

A total of €25,820 in cash, €158,000 worth of suspected drugs as well as a sawn-off shotgun and ammunition were also found.

Operation Meacán was started in December 2023 targeting the use of electric motorbikes, e-scooters and e-bikes for criminal activity.
