Pensioner extradited from Australia to NI accused of gross indecency with a child
Getty ImagesA 75-year-old man has been extradited from Australia to Northern Ireland accused of indecent assault on a woman and gross indecency with a child.
The offences allegedly occurred in Northern Ireland between the late 1970s and early 1980s.
He is to stand trial accused of 14 offences of indecent assault on a female and three offences of committing an act of gross indecency with a child.
He is expected to appear before Laganside Magistrates' Court on Thursday morning.
He was arrested in Victoria in 2023, and returned to Northern Ireland on Wednesday.
The PSNI worked with the UK Home Office and Australian authorities to locate, arrest and return the man.
Sgt Davey, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's International Policing Unit, said the extradition demonstrates the PSNI's "commitment" to tracking down those accused of serious offending.
