A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder after a teenager was killed and another seriously injured.

The boy was arrested on Sunday as detectives were granted more time to question four other people in custody. All five are from Stoke-on-Trent.

A man in his late teens was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, also in his late teens, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Five suspects have been arrested on suspicion of murder

"His injuries are no longer believed to be life-threatening and he remains in a stable condition in hospital," police said.

The four other suspects - a 17-year-old boy, two 18-year-old men and a 20-year-old man - remain in police custody. The three older suspects were arrested on suspicion of murder while the youngest was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Officers were still at the scene on Sunday evening as they appealed for witnesses and anyone who was in the area between 21:00 on Friday and shortly after midnight on Saturday to share CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage, or relevant social media content.

Det Insp Lisa Holland, from Staffordshire's major and organised crime unit, said detectives had made "significant progress" in the investigation.

"We continue to support the family of the victims at this devastating time," she added.
