Police officer sacked after restraining order imposed
BBCA Staffordshire Police officer has been sacked without notice after being handed a restraining order for the protection of three people known to him.
The court order, imposed earlier this year, prohibits all direct or indirect contact and bans the officer from visiting their home address or workplace.
The officer was dismissed after attending a gross misconduct hearing on Thursday which found that he had breached standards of professional behaviour in relation to discreditable conduct.
"The public rightly expect officers to act with integrity and off-duty conduct that requires a court-approved order seriously undermines trust in policing," Deputy Chief Constable Caroline Marsh said.
Marsh added that when officers failed to meet standards expected, the force would take "robust action to ensure they are held accountable for their behaviour".
An allegation of gross misconduct was found proven at the hearing.
The officer will also be added to the College of Policing Barred List, preventing him from returning to the police service or taking certain other roles related to policing in the future.
