Police have arrested two men after they received a tip-off of suspected drug-dealing at a shop in Wolverhampton.

The West Midlands force worked with Trading Standards to apprehend the men and recovered a range of illegal drugs, including cannabis edibles and cannabis vapes from the city centre store.

The men, aged 20 and 43, were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs. They are being questioned in police custody.

A police spokesperson said: "We're taking regular action to tackle dealing in Wolverhampton, and across the West Midlands, as drugs not only ruin lives but fuel further crime."

They added: "We won't tolerate illegal activities and we're often involved in warrants alongside Trading Standards, HMRC and other agencies, in response to information we receive about drug sales, anti-social behaviour, and crime and disorder."

A number of suspected counterfeit items were also found in the raid, with the help of police sniffer dogs.

The latest arrests come after a recent investigation by the BBC showed high street shops selling illegal drugs and prescription drugs in areas of the West Midlands.

The force urged "anyone with information to contact us and our partners, as the more evidence and intelligence we receive means we all have a better opportunity of combating any illegal activity".
