Watch: Bulldozers used to create fire-breaks in Dunwich
Aerial footage captured six days after a huge wildfire tore through precious heathland shows the fire-breaks created by bulldozers.
Suffolk Fire Service said crews would remain at the Dunwich Heath all week after fire engulfed 150 hectares at its height — the equivalent of 210 football pitches.
The fire started at about 17:00 BST on Wednesday and there are still surface hotspots measuring 60C (140F), rising to 600C (1,112F) underground.
The fire service has been making use of bulldozers to create 15m (49ft)-wide firebreaks where vegetation has been scraped away to create corridors of sandy, yellow subsoil.
The aim is to help stop the spread of any further fires.
