The work is expected to finish by the end of August

Work has started to refurbish a car park in St Helier and motorists have been warned it may be a smelly business.

The project will start on the top deck at the Green Street car park and should finish there by 10 July before moving on to other levels, which should be completed by the end of August, Infrastructure and Environment (I&E) said.

Work is including replacing expansion joints and repairing waterproof coatings, steelwork and concrete columns, focusing on the back area of each floor, with the rest of the car park is due to stay open, I&E said.

It added: "Some of the works will produce an odour, but please be assured that this is not harmful."
