Two men have been arrested after a man was allegedly attacked with a knife in the street.

Armed police were called to Gladstone Street in the Millfield area of Peterborough at about 15:00 BST on Tuesday after reports that two men were seen carrying at least three knives.

A man aged in his 20s was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A 27-year-old man from Peterborough was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing a knife in a public place. A second man, 18, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of affray.

Both men were in custody at Thorpe Wood police station.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said the incident was thought to be "isolated" but anyone with any information, or relevant dashcam or video doorbell footage, was asked to contact it.
