A number of pigs have died and a road closed off after a livestock lorry crashed.

Norfolk Police were called to reports of a collision between a lorry and a parked vehicle on the A1075 at Croxton at 23:44 BST on Tuesday.

The lorry, carrying pigs, overturned and some of the animals had to be euthanised due to their injuries, the force said.

The A1075 is closed between the A11 at the Thetford roundabout and the junction with Illington Road. It is expected to be closed for a few hours, Norfolk Police said.

The force has warned drivers to find alternative routes while they deal with the incident.

The driver of the lorry was not injured.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service sent crews from King's Lynn, Attleborough, Thetford, Brandon, Earlham, and Wymondham. Urban Search and Rescue teams from Dereham assisted.

The crews made vehicles and the surrounding area safe, the service added.
