Jersey Zoo is celebrating the arrival of two new capybara babies.

It posted that its capybara family "has just gotten bigger with not one , but two babybara".

The zoo said Tayto and Tango are now "proud parents" and the latest arrival was born on Wednesday 10 June when Tayto gave birth.

Capybara come from South America and are semi-aquatic rodents, likened to large guinea-pigs.

Last year Tango forced a temporary zoo closure after escaping from an enclosure but was later spotted at woods in the zoo grounds.

Tango is one of triplets which moved to the zoo from Druisillas Park in East Sussex where he demanded cuddles from author Dame Jacqueline Wilson who read stories to the animals on Word Book Day.
