An arrest has been made after a man was seriously injured in a stabbing in Derby.

Derbyshire Police said officers were called to Walbrook Road, Normanton, just before 22:50 BST on Sunday after a report that a man had been attacked.

A 40-year-old man found at the scene with stab wounds remains in hospital in a serious condition, the force added.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of GBH on Monday afternoon, police said, and was taken into police custody.

Det Insp Simon English said there would be an increased police presence in the area on Monday.

The force said it was keen to hear from anyone with private CCTV or dashcam footage of the area at the time of the stabbing.
