Replacement ride on horizon for Pleasure Beach
Skegness Pleasure BeachA new pirate ship ride is due to arrive at Skegness Pleasure Beach after the attraction's previous vessel was dismantled earlier this year.
The fairground's 43-year-old ride was taken down in January, prompting a strong reaction and nostalgic comments from visitors on social media.
Owner Jimmy Botton Jr said the replacement ride, named The Kraken, was expected to be delivered on 22 or 23 June and could be operating before the end of the month.
He said the original ride had to be removed after "age caught up with it".
Speaking on BBC Radio Lincolnshire, Botton said the new attraction had initially been due to arrive in March but was delayed.
The 32-seat ride will be slightly smaller than its predecessor, but he said it would offer a different motion.
Botton said it would take three to four days to assemble once it arrives, after which it must pass inspection before opening to the public.
The Botton family has run the fairground since 1965, when it took over the site from Billy Butlin.
