Initial works to transform a roundabout in Nottinghamshire as part of a multimillion-pound scheme are set to begin this month.

Nottinghamshire County Council said pre-construction works to upgrade Ollerton roundabout as part of a £46.9m project to revamp five junctions on the A614 and A6097 would begin in November.

The authority said motorists would see teams on site between November and February completing vegetation clearance works, footway improvements and utility diversions.

It added the works would allow the main roundabout improvement scheme to start from March.

Traffic management, including a single lane closure and temporary traffic lights, will be in place overnight, the council said, once vegetation clearance works begin, to allow teams to work safely.

The Reform UK-run council added the project would involve reshaping the roundabout to give vehicles more room and widening approaches and exits.

Bert Bingham, cabinet member for transport and environment, said: "It is great news that these pre-construction works will start at Ollerton roundabout from November.

"These long-awaited improvements to the roundabout will ultimately reduce congestion and improve journey times, while making journeys safer."
