Murder charge withdrawn after body found in van
BBCA murder charge against a woman has been withdrawn after a man's body was found in the back of a van in Leicester.
Harinder Kaur had been charged with murdering Major Singh after his body was discovered inside a Ford Transit van in a car park in Garden Street, Leicester, on 27 May.
Prosecutors alleged Singh, who was in his 30s, was killed in Hounslow, west London, before being transported more than 100 miles away.
The Old Bailey heard on Friday that the murder charge against Kaur, 39, of Sutton Dene in Hounslow, west London, had been withdrawn. Kaur denied the additional charge of perverting the course of justice with a trial fixed for 5 April 2027.
Singh was discovered after a member of the public reported concerns about the condition of the van on 27 May.
An investigation was launched by the East Midlands Special Operations Unit with help from Leicestershire Police, but was later transferred to the Metropolitan Police.
