Two men have been jailed after an underground cannabis farm was found near a Warwickshire village.

Police officers found an "inconspicuous" shipping container near Wolston in August. Inside it they discovered an entry hatch which led them down into a subterranean farm with an estimated £500,000 crop of cannabis growing.

Gjergivatal Pjeter, 33, of New Market Street, Birmingham, and Eldoh Sylaj, 31, of Upper Stone Street, Maidstone, admitted being involved in producing the Class B drug.

They were both jailed for 22 months at a hearing at Warwick Crown Court on Monday.

The defendants were both told to pay a victim surcharge of £187, with the court also ordering the destruction of the cannabis.
