Cube hotel and Marco Pierre White restaurant shut
BBCOne of Birmingham's most well-known landmarks, the Cube Hotel, home to the Marco Pierre White restaurant, has announced it has closed.
On Tuesday, a notice posted outside the venue said it had ceased trading with immediate effect. A notice pinned outside the building apologised for any inconvenience. At least one couple turned up for a booked meal on Tuesday but could not get in.
Meanwhile a popular cafe in Stirchley, Caneat, also announced it would be shutting its doors. A social media post said hospitality was a horrific way to try and make a living at the moment
These closures follow others announced around the city in recent weeks, including Michelin-starred Simpsons.
Caneat opened in 2017.
In its social media post director Dominic Clarke said it had tried to adapt but had unfortunately made a few mistakes upon the way.
"We didn't know how to run a business, we just knew how to run Caneat," the post said.
"Hospitality is a horrific way to try and make a living at the moment and our model is just not one that continue any longer".
He added staff would miss serving the community more than anyone could imagine.

Conrad Brunton, founder of the Midlands Hospitality Network, said it was a closure which would hit the hospitality industry.
The suburb of Stirchley was having a resurgence and Caneat had been ploughing the furrow, he told BBC WM.
"They had beautiful fresh food, were always thinking on their feet, doing great events and being part of the community."
He added the closure said more about the hospitality industry than the closure of The Cube Hotel and Marco Pierre White's Steakhouse Bar & Grill.
The skyline restaurant, located at the top of The Cube building, opened about 14 years ago, and was known for its 360-degree panoramic views overlooking the city.
"These rising costs have shrunk the margins to the point where you could walk past a pub, cafe or restaurant and see it quite busy at the moment, but that doesn't tell the true picture," Brunton said.
"Labour costs have increased more than 30 percent over the last five years, some businesses report energy costs are doubling or even quadrupling over the same period, food inflation is there."

"We don't know what this means for the future and for people who may have bookings or vouchers to use."
Amanda Sandland, was due to go for a meal for her 49th birthday on Tuesday with her husband, James.
"We had a table reservation at midday, it was a surprise from my husband which we had booked two weeks ago, we got on the tram, got outside 20 minutes early."
She said it was shut up and while they were waiting they had an email to say the booking at been cancelled.
"We were really confused, they were posting on Facebook two hours before, we had no idea it was going to happen, but I have had no explanation since."
Both the hotel and the restaurant have been contacted for comments.
