Woman bailed after man assaulted at canal

A woman has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in West Sussex, police say.

Sussex Police officers are appealing for witnesses following the attack at Chichester Canal, close to the A27 bypass near Stockbridge Road, in the early hours of Thursday.

A man in his 40s reported being assaulted by a man and a woman, with a 36-year-old woman being subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

She has been bailed pending further enquiries, and Sussex Police has asked anyone with relevant information to come forward.
