Man, 68, arrested in rape investigation

A 68-year-old man has been arrested as part of an investigation into an alleged rape in Worthing.

Sussex Police officers were called to Salvington Road at 17:55 BST on Thursday.

The suspect, who is local to the area, was arrested shortly afterwards and is now in custody.

Det Insp Matt Stevens said: "Specialist support is being given to the victim, who is a 37-year-old woman."

He added "We are in the early stages of the investigation and we are appealing for information.

"Anyone who has mobile phone or dashcam footage, or witnessed the incident themselves, is urged to contact us."
