A 13-year-old boy died from a traumatic head injury following a collision with a car, an inquest has been told.

Ampthill Coroner's Court heard Noah Campbell died shortly after the crash on Greenfield Road in Flitwick, Bedfordshire, which happened at about 23:50 BST on 3 April.

The court was told he was travelling with two friends, both teenage boys, by bicycle and foot-propelled scooter when all three were struck. The other boys were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A couple have been charged with multiple offences between them following the crash and have been remanded in custody. The inquest was suspended until a later date.

The court heard the boys were on the nearside of the road, close to the grass verge, when a car came up behind them, travelling in the same direction towards Kings Road.

A witness described hearing a bang and seeing a cloud of feathers where the three friends had been struck.

A car showing significant damage was found a short while later on a nearby street.

At 01:00 on 4 April, paramedic Jennifer Geary examined Noah by the road and confirmed his death.

Noah, who was last living in Wardhedges, Bedfordshire, was formally identified by his father the same day.

Forensic pathologist, Dr Virginia Fitzpatrick-Swallow, carried out a post-mortem examination and found the cause of death to be a traumatic head injury.

Bina Patel, the area coroner for Bedfordshire and Luton, opened and adjourned the inquest, saying it would be suspended until the outcome of a criminal investigation.
