Recycling centre closed due to nearby fire

A fire on an industrial estate has led to the closure of a waste recycling site in north Leeds.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service attended SBT Skip Hire on Milners Road in Yeadon at about 08:30 GMT on Thursday after the blaze broke out.

Yeadon's household waste recycling centre, which is further along the road, has closed as a result of the fire, according to a Facebook post by Guiseley and Rawdon's three Labour councillors.

A spokesperson for the fire service said nearby residents should keep windows and doors closed and warned drivers to avoid the area due to possible traffic disruption.

It is not yet clear how the fire started.
