Leisure centre to reopen after bacteria discovery
BBCA leisure centre that was closed after the detection of Legionella bacteria in its water system is set to reopen.
The centre said it would open on Monday at 06:30 BST, after the water system had been "thoroughly disinfected".
It has been closed since Tuesday, after routine testing found the bacteria, which can occasionally cause Legionnaires' disease.
In a post on Facebook, it said: "The centre's water system has been thoroughly disinfected to ensure that it has been completely treated, overseen throughout by subject matter experts."
"As an additional precaution, filters have now also been installed across the site, and visitors may notice upgrades to showers and taps, which have been fitted to accommodate this new system," the post said.
"A small number of facilities are still going through these upgrade works and will be unavailable.
"These have been safely isolated and are clearly signposted, and it is anticipated that they will be brought back into use across this coming week."
It added its thanks to the teams, staff members, contractors and the Beau Sejour community.
