A man has died in a crash involving a car and a motorbike in Leicester.

Leicestershire Police were called to reports of a collision involving a red Tesla Model 3 and grey Kawasaki ZX10 motorcycle in Narborough Road South at 14:40 BST on Wednesday.

The motorcyclist – a man in his 50s – was pronounced dead at the scene, the force said. No arrests have been made.

A section of the road was closed for several hours, near the junction of Fosse Park Avenue, but has since reopened.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and an air ambulance were also called to the scene.

The fire service previously said the collision involved two cars, however, police later confirmed it involved one car.

Det Sgt Charlotte Mee, from the force's serious collision investigation unit, said: "Our investigation to establish the circumstances of the incident is in its early stages and I'd like to speak to anyone who can help.

"Given the location of the incident, I'm sure there will have been many people who witnessed it and I'd also urge any motorists with a dashcam to get in touch as well.

"Anything you can provide could be important."
