The family of a motorcyclist who died in a crash involving a car have said he was a "source of pure delight".

Emergency services were called to Narborough Road South in Leicester, at 14:40 BST on 30 September, to reports of a crash involving a grey Kawasaki ZX10 and a red Tesla Model 3.

Mathew Mitchell, 57, from Sapcote in Leicestershire, was pronounced dead at the scene, Leicestershire Police said.

His wife Diana said he was the "heart of our family", and added: "We will miss him every single day, but we will carry his spirit with us always."

"How do you put a lifetime of love into words? Mathew was my partner, my best friend and the heart of our family," she said.

"To me, he was a loving husband whose support and warmth filled our lives with joy.

"To our three sons, he was a steady guide, an inspiration, and a father who gave them everything they needed to grow into the fine men they are today.

"To his twin grandchildren, he was a source of pure delight and unconditional love.

"The love he built, the values he instilled, and the legacy he leaves in our family will never fade.

"We want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who came to Mathew's aid following his tragic accident, from the members of the public who stopped without hesitation to the paramedics, police and first responders who fought endlessly to save him.

"Your dedication, kindness, and selfless humanity during the worst day of our lives will never be forgotten."

No other injuries were reported and no-one has been arrested in connection with the crash.

Police said inquiries were ongoing.
