Four people have been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice following a crash that killed two teenagers.

Jaydon Jack Eric Bowyer, 19, and Ta-Shay Carlton Canoville, 16, both from Newport, died from "blunt trauma" after a motorbike crash involving a vehicle which then "made off from the scene" on Aberthaw Road on 7 May.

On Tuesday, Yonis Zaid, 18, Ella Persse, 21, Montaser Yafai, 23, and a 16-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Newport Magistrates' Court.

Zaid, Persse and Yafai were remanded in custody, while the 16-year-old was granted conditional bail.

Jaydon and Ta-Shay's deaths are currently at the centre of a murder investigation.

Terell Case,18, of Sandpiper Way, Duffryn, and Joshua Williams, 34, of no fixed abode, have both been charged with two counts of murder and are due back in court later this month.

Two women aged 24 and 40 from Newport, who had earlier been arrested on suspicion of murder, have since been released without charge.

Previously, Det Supt Steven Maloney said: "Both Jaydon and Ta-Shay's families are being supported by specialist officers and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.

"We would like to thank the community for their support while we continue to investigate fully the circumstances of these tragic deaths."
