M1 closed southbound after two-car crash
National HighwaysThe M1 in South Yorkshire has been closed southbound after a two-car crash.
The motorway is shut between junctions 36 and 35A near Tankersley after the vehicles collided just before 19:40 BST.
South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service and National Highways traffic officers are at the scene.
The fire service said: "Three fire crews are at the scene working to bring the incident to a safe conclusion. The road is likely to be closed for the next couple of hours. Avoid the area and plan your route accordingly if you need to travel."
