The A46 is shut in Leicestershire on Monday morning due to a serious collision which led to a vehicle fire.

National Highways said at about 04:50 BST that the dual carriageway was closed northbound near Leicester, before saying both directions were shut at about 06:35.

The closure was in force on the Leicester Western Bypass between the M1 at Junction 21a and the A5630 at Anstey, with the section between the A50 at Groby and Anstey opened up at about 08:00.

At about 10:00 the southbound carriageway reopened but northbound was still closed for police investigation works.
