Two men have been arrested after a woman was sexually assaulted near an underpass in Shropshire, police said.

The 19-year-old was attacked by an unknown man near Laburnum Road and Stafford Road in Oakengates, Telford, between 15:30 and 16:00 on 28 May.

She was able to fight the man off, before he fled the scene in the direction of Trench, West Mercia Police said.

Two men, aged 23 and 33, have since been arrested and released on bail while investigations continue.

Police said they were continuing to appeal for any witnesses to contact them.

Det Insp Danielle Logan said: "We understand an incident of this nature can cause alarm within the local community, but I want to reassure the public we are continuing with our enquiries.

"Officers are continuing to carry out patrols in the area and ask anyone who have any information that may help with enquiries to speak to them."

The force said the victim was being supported by specially trained officers.
