Manslaughter accused in court as victim named

A man who died after an altercation at a pub in South Yorkshire has been named, as a man appeared in court charged with manslaughter.

Jonathan Round, 52, was taken to hospital with serious injuries after an incident at the Star Hotel in Cudworth, Barnsley, on Friday night but later died, South Yorkshire Police said.

Liam McGuire, 34, of Stocks Lane in Barnsley, has been charged with manslaughter and appeared before Barnsley Magistrates' Court earlier.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 12 October.

Police said emergency services were called to the scene at about 23:30 BST on Friday.

A spokesperson said the victim's family were being supported by officers.
