Murder arrest after man dies following pub assault
GoogleA man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following an altercation at a pub.
Police were called to The Star Hotel, in Cudworth, Barnsley, just before 23:30 BST on Friday, where an injured man was found.
The victim, in his 50s, had been assaulted by another man following an altercation, according to South Yorkshire Police. He died in hospital.
A 34-year-old man was arrested on Saturday morning on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
Det Insp Laura Procter said: "This was a devastating incident that has left a man dead.
"Our officers worked at pace through the night to identify and arrest a suspect and we do not believe any others were involved."
The force asked for anyone with information to get in touch.
