Boy, 16, held after man shot in 'attempted murder'
GoogleA teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot in Liverpool.
Merseyside Police were called to Carlingford Close in Toxteth shortly after 20:40 BST on 3 June to reports of a 19-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his arm.
The force said the shooting was believed to have taken place outside the Merseyside Caribbean Council community centre on Upper Parliament Street.
A 16-year-old boy from Liverpool has been detained and is being questioned by detectives.
'Open mind'
Det Insp Chris Clark said: "We have increased the number of officers in the local area and are keen to speak with anyone who was on Upper Parliament Street on the evening of 3 June and saw or heard anything suspicious but has not yet come forward.
"I would like to reassure residents and anyone who has information about what happened that we are committed to removing weapons and the people that choose to use them from the streets of Liverpool and will investigate any information we receive."
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said the force was "keeping an open mind" as to whether the attack was linked to another shooting in Toxteth on Friday 19 June.
Officers were called to Lodge Lane after reports of a gun being fired in a café at about 17:00.
A man was taken to hospital with non life-threatening gunshot injuries and has since been discharged.
