Two teens arrested after man critically injured

A man is in a critical condition after being attacked by a group of six males.

Merseyside Police said two teenagers had been arrested following the incident.

A 16-year-old, from Wavertree, was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, and a 14-year-old, from Dingle, was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. They both remain in police custody for questioning.

The force said the assault took place outside a takeaway on Park Road, in Dingle, shortly before 22:00 BST on Saturday, and an electric bike was used in the attack.

The victim, who is in his 30s, remains in hospital.

Merseyside Police said it has seized the electric bike believed to have been used in the assault.

Det Insp Gemma Ellerton said the force continued to investigate what happened and ensure those involved were held to account.

"We understand the concern that such an incident will cause, especially given the ages of those involved and the busy area in which this occurred," she said.

She urged anyone who witnessed the attack, or who suspected a young person they knew may have been involved, to contact police.

Det Insp Ellerton also asked people to check devices which may have captured images or footage in the period leading up to the assault.
