The winner of a coveted award at an international cheese and dairy festival says the recognition is "such an honour".

The Wright Family Dairy's milk has been named Supreme Dairy Product at the International Cheese and Dairy awards in Stafford.

Lowri Wright from the business, which has a herd of pedigree Jersey cows just a few miles away, said the firm had a lot of "pride and passion" in what they do.

The event at the Staffordshire County Showground attracted more than 4,000 entries from across the globe including New Zealand.

"A moment like this just puts the cherry on top of everything," Wright said.

The family, which has been farming locally for over 50 years, she said were all "super proud" of the award.

"We are four years into our direct sales venture where we have been pasteurising our own milk," she explained.

"We take great pride in how we look after our cows, so it's great to know what we're producing is getting recognised on an international level, not only on a local level.

"The cows are the stars of our business, and we're all about sustainability and keeping food miles low."
