Police want to speak to these two men about the assault after a man was attacked at Stafford railway station

Images of two men have been issued by police after a man was badly hurt in an unprovoked attack at a railway station during the Bank Holiday weekend.

The victim, aged in his 60s, was on a day out with his family on Sunday when he went to use the toilet at the station in Stafford at about 22:00 BST.

Two men made comments towards the victim before they repeatedly punched him, causing him to fall, hit his head and lose consciousness, British Transport Police (BTP) said.

The pair left towards the town centre before paramedics were called and found the victim with a large laceration to his head, as well as bruising and swelling on his face.

A BTP spokesperson said he was taken to hospital and later discharged.

The men pictured could have information that might help with the investigation, they added, and anyone who recognised them was asked to contact BTP.
