Public asked for feedback on HSC complaints
BBCA working group to gather evidence from the public on how hospital complaints have been managed has been set up by Health and Social Care (HSC).
The Complaints and Learning Working Group wants service-users, Medical Specialist Group staff and former and current HSC workers to contribute to two listening exercises beginning on 18 May.
It said the group forms part of work to "enhance transparency, fairness and public confidence" in its complaints process and to ensure improvement.
A final report with recommendations was due to be submitted to the Committee for Health and Social Care before the end of the year, project leaders said.
HSC said the sessions would be hosted by CareWatch, which would organise small group discussions, structured written submissions and facilitate anonymous feedback.
It said the aim was to understand the "challenges, barriers, and opportunities relating to complaints, feedback and learning".
HSC said the Complaints and Learning Working Group included a range of professional, clinical, complaints and lived experience expertise.
"It operates independently of the committee and is not a stakeholder group," it said.
"Its role is to provide impartial scrutiny and independent thought to the issues under consideration."
More information on the work of the group and how to take part in the session can be found on the States of Guernsey website.
