A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 40-year-old woman who died at a property in Bracknell.

The 48-year-old man remains in custody after police were called to an address in Birkdale at about 07:00 BST following reports the woman had suffered a head injury.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) said scene watches remain in Birkdale and Liscombe, which are about a mile (1.6km) apart, while officers' investigations continue.

Det Ch Insp Stuart Brangwin, of TVP, said the force does not believe there is any wider risk to the public and anyone with any information is asked to speak to officers.

Police were called to the property at about 07:00 on Thursday

"We are in the early stages of a complex investigation and are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry to establish the full circumstances surrounding her death," he added.

"I would ask people not to speculate about the circumstances of this incident, either on social media or elsewhere, as this may cause additional distress to those affected and could impact our investigation."
