Drivers warned of delays though village centre
BBCDrivers have been warned of traffic delays in the centre of a village in the east of the Isle of Man as essential water network maintenance and emergency gas mains replacement work takes place.
The project by Manx Utilities (MU) at the Corkill's roundabout in Onchan is due to continue until 6 July, while Isle of Man Energy's works on Whitebridge Road are expected to last "several weeks".
MU said its project had been prioritised after a fault in the area had affected water supplies to a number of properties in the area.
People travelling from Laxey have been urged to use King Edward Road as an alternative route into the capital, with those from Ramsey asked to use the Mountain Road.
GoogleTemporary traffic lights and lane restrictions have been put in place and a one-way system is in operation on Summerhill Road during the water works, with access to Corkill's Garage maintained.
MU said the works would help provide an alternative supply route should future issues arise and reduce the risk of more widespread water outages.
"We understand this is a busy route and that the works will cause disruption due to the location and traffic management required, and we are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause," it added.
That project comes as Isle of Man Energy carries out emergency gas mains replacement works on the main road into the village.
That project began last week and has seen temporary traffic lights in place on Whitebridge Road and parking suspended on Windemere Drive.
