A new food store could be built in a town in West Sussex as part of plans the developer says will reduce the number of longer journeys residents currently make elsewhere.

Landlink's proposal would see the store, and a drive-thru, developed adjacent to the ASDA and Costa at Wave Approach in Selsey.

A drop-in session is being held at Selsey Town Hall on Wednesday to discuss the proposal.

Jacintha Carty, property director of Landlink, said: "The feedback we receive will help us shape our proposals as they evolve, before we submit our planning application. We look forward to meeting with the community."

After this session, the consultation will continue online for two weeks "to enable as many people as possible to take part and share their views", she added.

According to the proposal detailed on the Landlink website, the proposal would extend the existing retail centre, and also add new landscaping and parking provision.

The aim is that residents would have to make fewer journeys to Chichester for retail services, it said.

Wednesday's drop-in session will be held from 15:00 until 18:30 GMT.
