Warning as caravan filled with rubbish dumped by A52

Environmental health officers have appealed for help to track down the owner of a caravan filled with waste after it was dumped in a lay-by.

The vehicle - which was cordoned off by council workers - is thought to have been left at the side of the A52 in Nottinghamshire on or before Monday.

Rushcliffe Borough Council said the caravan, which has the model name Tornado, had brought a "whirlwind of waste" to the roadside between Radcliffe-on-Trent and the Saxondale junction with the A46.

Officials said it was filled with household waste items, and asked drivers who may have been passing when it was dumped to help with its investigation.

A council spokesperson said: "Abandoning a vehicle is a crime and never acceptable as it can blight public areas, creating issues and eyesores in otherwise clean places or highways.

"Rushcliffe prides itself on being a great place and any item that is dumped in this manner can affect our communities and environmental priorities.

"We encourage anyone with any information on the caravan to contact us."

The spokesperson said the council was particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area, or from residents and motorists who may recognise the caravan or recall suspicious activity in the lay-by.

The council added the caravan would be removed as soon as possible.
