Waterloo Road was closed while crews tackled the blaze

A main road was closed after a suspected arson attack on a derelict house.

Firefighters were called to Waterloo Road in Poole, Dorset, at about 19:50 BST on Wednesday where the semi-detached property was alight.

Crews from six stations, along with an aerial ladder platform and command support unit, spent three hours tackling the blaze.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was believed to have been started deliberately.

Residents were advised to keep doors and windows closed

A section of the road was closed throughout the incident.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area and residents were advised to keep doors and windows closed.
