One person has been arrested after a road crash in Jersey which left a vehicle on fire.

Emergency services attended the scene involving two cars on a road junction near Le Braye beach restaurant on Friday evening, which saw one car "well alight".

The occupants of the vehicle, including two dogs, were helped by the public and staff of a nearby business. No-one was seriously hurt.

Jersey Fire and Rescue Service said the road was closed for several hours while police carried out investigation work. Work to repair fire damage on the carriageway is due to be carried out on Monday.

Fire crews recovered gas cylinders from a beach barbecue which were thought to have led to a series of small explosions, the BBC understands.
