Crews fighting a fire on an industrial estate in Nottinghamshire are expected to remain on scene into the evening.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) said multiple crews were at Langar Industrial Estate after the blaze, which involved large amounts of scrap metal, broke out at about 14:00 BST on Thursday.

Crews from Bingham, West Bridgford, Newark, London Road and Highfields, in Nottingham, are at the scene, with support from Leicestershire and South Yorkshire fire services.

A spokesperson for NFRS said: "Please avoid the area, and if you live nearby, please keep your doors and windows closed due to smoke plumes."

At about 16:30, the fire service said the incident was now "under control" but that crews "will be there for the remainder of the evening".
