Firefighters are tackling a moorland blaze near Glossop.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Tintwistle Moor, above Woodhead Road, at 22:11 BST on Wednesday.

Crews from Glossop and New Mills attended but left shortly after 02:00 on Thursday for safety reasons due to failing light, the service added.

Firefighters from Chapel-en-le-Frith, Buxton and Hathersage were sent to the scene at 04:00 and remain there.

Anyone who can see or smell smoke has been advised to keep their windows and doors closed, and people have been urged to avoid the area.
