A bird of prey is fighting for its life after it was injured during an incident involving a plane.

The JSPCA said the male marsh harrier was brought into its care after it was believed to have been thrown to the ground with a "significant impact" at Jersey Airport.

The charity said in a social media post on Sunday that it was not 100% sure whether the bird was hit by the plane or got caught up in engine turbulence, but it had "remarkably" survived the ordeal and was receiving "careful veterinary treatment".

"The wildlife team have said it is touch and go as to whether it will survive due to the nature of its injuries," a JSPCA spokesperson added.
