An animal welfare charity said it costs about £4,000 a day to keep the organisation running.

The JSPCA released its figures for 2025, highlighting the cost, alongside more than 17,000 calls received in that period of time.

In total, the charity's vet ambulances covered more than 23,000 miles (37,000km), attending 3,138 call-outs.

In the year, 99 cats were re-homed or claimed, 117 reptiles and fish were rehomed, 96 small animals were rehomed and 18 dogs were re-homed or claimed, staff said.

In a post on Facebook, JSPCA said: "Our latest impact report gives a little glimpse into just how much happens at the JSPCA, every single day.

"From paws to claws, feathers to scales, the team has been busy caring for animals across the island, and none of it would be possible without our staff, volunteers, members and supporters."

More than 6,000 volunteer hours were spent at the charity, with 12,000 people passing through the reception door in 2025.
