A runner suffered serious injuries when she was attacked by a Jack Russell as it was being walked on a lead by a man who did not stop.

The victim was bitten at about 08:50 BST on Friday, as she was running between Walkwood Road and Avonbank Close in Redditch, Worcestershire.

According to West Mercia Police, she was on a footpath when she passed a man walking the dog.

"The dog bit the woman on the leg, causing serious injuries," said a spokesperson, who also confirmed the owner, a man possibly aged in his 70s, left the area with the dog after the attack.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened or who may have information about the dog's owner.
