A man has been jailed for two-and-a-half years after he left another man with potentially life-changing injuries when he crashed his car into him in Oxford.

Thames Valley Police previously said Romario Qatja, from Oxford, had mounted the pavement and ran into two men in their 20s on St Clements on 13 September 2025.

The two pedestrians were taken to hospital after being hit by the grey Mercedes Qatja had been driving.

During a hearing at Oxford Crown Court on Friday, 31-year-old Qatja was sentenced to two years imprisonment.

A jury at the same court found him guilty of causing serious injury by dangerous driving last month.

He was also handed an additional six-month consecutive prison sentence for a separate count of affray, and was banned from driving.

At his trial, which concluded on 16 September, a jury found the 31-year-old not guilty of attempted murder and wounding with intent.

The prosecution also offered no evidence on a separate charge of dangerous driving.
